This local gem is near and dear to my heart. I spent a lot of time in Williamsburg, Brooklyn before I ended up moving there. My first apartment was tucked away off of North 5th Street; 2 1/2 blocks from Fabiane’s.
First thing you should know is you need to order at the counter and then sit down, so there is no table service. A few negative reviews on Yelp have me laughing since clearly the customers did not know and thought they were being ignored by the employees and imaginary waiters.
Anyway, recently renovated, this French corner bakery offers delicious, small bites and the best baked eggs- ever. No, I’m not kidding. I really recommend you try it, if you ever find yourself wandering down Bedford Avenue after a late night out. It comes to your table in a piping-hot ceramic dish with a baguette on the side (with butter, of course). The menu has multiple options for what ingredients are mixed in- ranging from salmon and potatoes to spinach and feta. Plus, behind the glass at the counter are trays of treats: pistachio cake, croissants, cake slices, muffins, etc. I’m drooling. To be honest, I haven’t ordered much else on the menu yet besides the variations of baked eggs. I’ve seen the waffles come out of the kitchen looking bomb, so those are on my list next.
The location is on one of the busiest streets in Williamsburg, so it’s a perfect spot to people watch. When the weather is nice, there are tables outside which make for a great solo spot to read a book and count how many cute dogs walk by.
